Curve prices up after a volatile session

NWE spot baseload power prices were up yesterday, to €118.879/MWh on average for today delivery (compared to €112.274/MW for Wednesday), supported by forecasts of lower wind generation (3208 MW for today in Germany, compared to 4911 MW yesterday).

EUA Dec’21 prices jumped to a new all-time high of €61.90/t yesterday, before falling gradually to close at €60.12/t (-1.05% day-on-day) on profit taking.

Curve power prices followed the initial rally in clean fuel costs, before falling back like them. German Cal 2022 baseload prices closed at €88.10/MWh yesterday, +1.40% compared to the previous session. French Cal 2022 baseload prices were up by 1.62%, closing at €91.10/MWh.

As on clean fuel costs, profit taking by financial participants could exert a downward pressure on curve prices today. However, technical supports (€86.80/MWh on German Cal 2022 baseload) could contribute to limit losses.
