Anti-Covid vaccination: from bad to worse for the EU
- Macro-economy
- March 16, 2021
The main EU countries have suspended the AstraZeneca vaccine over concerns it may cause blood clots. This is another blow to the vaccination campaign in the EU that has gone from bad to worse since the beginning. It adds to delivery problems already encountered in particular for this vaccine. Moreover, confidence in the AstraZeneca vaccine was already fragile. All this can only lengthen the time it takes to get out of the crisis in Europe. On financial markets, US equities have reached new highs thanks to a respite in the bond yields’ rise. To this respect, the Fed meeting tomorrow will be very important. The EUR/USD remains under downward pressures, slightly above 1.19 this morning.
